Dragos Vinereanu (Romania)

Dragos Vinereanu, MD, PhD, FESC, FRCP, FAHA, is currently President of the Senate of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila, Bucharest, Romania, and Head of the Department of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery at the University and Emergency Hospital Bucharest, Romania. He graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila, Bucharest, Romania, in 1990.

His primary research interests are in echocardiography, cardiovascular risk factors and heart failure, with a focus on tissue Doppler and deformation imaging, diagnosis of subclinical heart disease, and prevention of left ventricular dysfunction. He has been the first author or co-author of more than 300 original papers and serves on the editorial board of 10 medical journals. He is currently the President of the Romanian Heart Foundation and is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
